The New Passat Alltrack Revealed at Geneva Motor Show!
The go-anywhere version of the Passat Estate has debuted at the Geneva Motor show.
Fitted with permanent four wheel drive and protective body cladding the rugged new all rounder is available in a choice of two petrol engines and three diesels, all which are shared with other models of the Passat line up.
The off road ability comes from a 27.5mm increase in ride height over the Passat estate on which the car is based. The transformation with family wagon to rugged estate is made through the addition of plastic wheelarch mouldings, protective side skirts, redesigned front and rear bumpers and bespoke 17-inch alloy wheels.
The theme of infotainment also assumes high priority in the Alltrack
Volkswagen has introduced a whole host of tech to help the Passat Alltrack excel including Apple CarPlay and trailer assist which will help the car reach is maximum trailer capacity of 2,200 kg.
A start/stop system and recover of braking energy with battery regeneration are also included as standard. The various interfaces include connecting to smartphones via App Connect. App Connect consists of applications like Mirror LinkTM, Car Play (Apple) and Android Auto (Google), which permit integration of nearly all smartphones and an enormous bandwidth of apps.
The Passat Alltrack will be available from September 2015
