A local sixth form student Harry from St Leonard's Catholic School
in Durham, is travelling to Mexico this summer to join Operation Wallacea.
Operation Wallacea is a network of academics from
European and North American universities, who design and implement biodiversity
and conservation management research programmes.
Harry along with his school peers will work along scientists
and local communities to collect data in both the rain forest and on the coral
reefs. This data will be used to encourage sustainable use of the land and
reefs by the local people.
Harry commented “I feel very passionate about wildlife
conservation and feel the work carried out by Operation Wallacea is valuable
for the protection of forests and wildlife from deforestation and hunting”.
Harry needs to raise a total of £2,650 from various events
to fund the project. To achieve his grand total Harry has organised numerous
fundraising events, the next big event takes place at Chester Le Street Golf
Club on 4th March 2016.
Pulman Volkswagen got word of Harry’s work and jumped at the
chance to support such a great project. Pulman Volkswagen kindly donated a
prestige Autoglym Kit as a raffle prize to help Harry reach his target.
Natalie Wilson, Pulman Group Marketing Manager commented: “To
support a student from the local area is fantastic and everyone at Pulman
wishes him all the best in his fundraising and project”.
Harry travels to Mexico July 2016 and has the support from
everyone at Pulman, good luck Harry!
